On the initiative of the president of the U.C.M. (Union of the Mediterranean Chefs) Italy Association, Paolo Brescia, a new Italian – Ukrainian center has recently begun to operate in the city of Dnipro, which is still the only one in this region. And it was opened at the University of Customs and Finance (USF).

The center was officially inaugurated with the participation of distinguished guests from Italy. In addition to Mr. Paolo Brescia, the mayor of the Italian city of Roseto-Valfortore, Mrs. Lucila Parisi, together with her husband, Mr. Antonio Giannini, took part in the ceremony.

The initiator of the inauguration was Mr. Paolo Brescia, president of the “Union of Mediterranean Chefs” Association – Italy, who in his welcome speech highlighted the need for the rapprochement of the two countries precisely because of the culture and gastronomic possibilities of the two countries” said the press service of the UMSF.

The advisor to the mayor of the city of Dnipro, Oleg Tupytsia, and famous local restaurateurs, the Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Brazil, Oleg Vasylenko, the Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan, Inna Medyanyk, attended the official inauguration of the Italian – Ukrainian center, as well as representatives of the Turkish, Greek and Palestinian delegations.

The director of the Italian – Ukrainian center in the city of Dnipro was appointed the famous restaurateur Dmytro Podopryhora, the owner of the inn “Hata Podopryhora” and the Italian restaurant “Giannivino”. Natalya Kovalenko, head of the village of Petrikyvka, was also present at the event. And this is not by chance, because on the occasion of the opening of the Ukrainian – Italian center, a twinning was signed between the urban – type village of Petrikyvka and the city of Roseto – Valfortore.

This became the first brick in the foundation of close relationships and the first significant event of the newly created center.

The second important event that took place at the opening ceremony of the center was the delivery of certificates for internships in southern Italy to UMSF students.

During the intership, they confirmed their knowledge of the Italian language and acquired new skills in both communication and professional activities.

The event took place in compliance with the quarantine regulations, all guests had a confirmation document regarding vaccination and / or PCR test carried out no later than 72 hours before the event”, noted the UMSF.

We would like to add that on the eve of the official inauguration of the UMSF Italian – Ukrainian center, a masterclass on Italian cuisine was held. It was conducted by Paolo Brescia for the representatives of the university training program “Hotels and Restaurants” – teachers and students who intend to travel to Italy for industrial practice.

Guests from the community of Petrikyvka, children deprived of parental care and their teachers also participated in the masterclass. They came at the invitation of the University’s management.

Paolo Brescia, president of the U.C.M. (Union of the Mediterranean Chefs) Italy Association taught the masterclass participants how to cook pizza, pasta and other Italian dishes. Thanks to this, Ukrainians learned more about the culture and customs of Italy, immersing themselves in the atmosphere of the Adriatic coast.
