The UCM Italy association has been working for many years with universities and colleges in Ukraine, providing training opportunities for students from these institutions.

During the various institutional meetings that we regularly hold, a new project was born involving war veterans. In recent days it took its first concrete step with an initial meeting held at a facility in the city of Kryvyi Rih where they are currently staying.

It was a very difficult meeting from a human perspective, as we looked into faces marked by the psychological devastation they have experienced and that they will carry within themselves for a long time.

Fortunately, after delivering the first lecture and training master class, we saw their faces begin to change. Finally, we saw them smile — happy and, for a few hours, carefree.

Being able to transform marked and sad faces into smiles and moments of light-heartedness means that something truly good was done that day. This is a small step in the project of social reintegration and returning, let’s say, to everyday life.

At the end of the meeting we thanked each of them personally, because in the end it was they who taught us something — something we will keep with us and within us.

Thank you, guys!
